Assistant Director of Health Services

About the Role:

The Assistant Director of Health Services supports the oversight and coordination of nursing and supportive services within the Assisted Living community. This role works closely with the Director of Health Services to ensure high-quality, resident-centered care that meets all regulatory and clinical standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Program Oversight: Responsible for the development, organization, and operation of nursing and supportive services for Assisted Living.

  • Care Coordination: Oversee the coordination and monitoring of nursing and supportive services for all residents, including the procurement of external resources to ensure resident needs are met.

  • Consultation Management: Communicate and collaborate with outside consultants to assess and provide recommendations for resident care needs.

  • Documentation Oversight: Ensure accurate coordination and monitoring of documentation reflecting wellness care provided, resident responses, and case outcomes.

  • Staff Management: Select, train, evaluate, and discipline all nursing-related personnel.

  • Scheduling & Coverage: Develop and maintain duty assignments for nursing and supportive staff to ensure 24-hour coverage in compliance with regulatory requirements and community standards of care.

  • Clinical Competency: Maintain clinical skills and stay current with standards of nursing practice through ongoing education, particularly in geriatrics.

  • Resident & Family Support: Assist residents and families by providing emotional support related to the aging process.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

  • Licensure: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) with a current license in the state of Texas (required).

  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in geriatric nursing and at least two (2) years of nursing administration experience.

  • Systems & Process Management: Strong ability to manage systems and processes effectively.

  • Staffing Experience: Proven experience with staffing and workforce management.

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in computer systems; comfortable using technology daily to manage resident care, medications, and tracking.

  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with all levels of management, employees, and external partners.
